Description

The project aims to create an integrated production process based on the use of technical polymers, through the adoption of innovative techniques Additive Factory, Laser Assisted Welding and Automatic Test Machines.

Role

Participation in the realization of the demonstrator for the testing of objects with on-board electronics. In particular, the role of the company is that to identify an optimal vision solution to guide the probes in testing by meeting stringent requirements of weight, space and distance.

Technologies

The 3D system has been developed through two cameras combined together with stereoscopy algorithms in order to satisy the requirements on precision and work distance.

Description

The project aims to develop a robotic system capable of welding and certifying, automatically, without any specific equipment, small batches of components of which the CAD math is not known.

Role

Creation of the 3D vision system to capture the entire scene, identify the dimensions and recognize the graphic lines positioned on the components to be welded.
Realization of the vision system to measure the joint to be welded with more precision.

Technologies

For the 3D vision system, stereoscopy was used through the use of a device already validated in the video game sector (Intel RealSense): the system has been fully integrated into an ad-hoc application that manages the camera and processes the device output, handling 3D meshes.
As regards the measurement system, a laser triangulation solution was created: the device has been chosen in order to minimize the size and weight of the structure that the head robot must carry. Also in this case, the device has been integrated in the application, which processes the output mesh providing precise measurements for welding.
